Xiaobao Didn’t Wake Me Up
I stayed over at one of Xiaobao’s close friend’s homes last night. When I got up in the morning, I hadn’t even folded the blanket yet—her friend did it for me. I was honestly embarrassed, wondering whether she could smell my stinky feet on it.
I had originally planned to wake up a little after 4 a.m. because I needed to go along for the wedding send-off. I was about to set an alarm, but Xiaobao told me not to bother and said she would wake me. I already had a pretty good idea of how that might turn out, but I still went along with it.
And of course, that’s exactly what happened.
When I opened my eyes, it was already 6:30. I barely made the last possible ride for the send-off.
She Caught the Bouquet
I didn’t actually get to see the wedding ceremony itself, which was a shame. I had gone into town to help Xiaobao handle some reimbursement paperwork—money related to the injections for her eye.
But she did manage to catch the bouquet the bride tossed.
If I had been there in that moment, I probably would’ve proposed on the spot. Haha—well, not really. With my personality, there’s no way I’d actually dare do that. I’m way too shy.
Taking Her Home
In the afternoon, I took Xiaobao back to her house. That was when her National Day holiday finally started.
She has to go to Lanzhou tomorrow for a follow-up eye exam, and today happened to be her friend’s wedding, so she shifted her days off around and ended up taking her break now.
As soon as I got her home, I hurried back to work, mainly because her dad was there.
If I had stayed, I probably would have ended up sleeping in the same room as her dad again, and that would’ve meant talking all night. Better to make a quick escape.
The Internal Network Wouldn’t Connect
At the office that evening, a coworker couldn’t connect to the private network.
He had adjusted the direction of something and unplugged every cable from the computer, then plugged everything back in. The system showed that it was connected, but it still didn’t work. He couldn’t access the internal address at all.
What made it stranger was that both the IP address and the gateway could still be pinged successfully. I wondered whether the DNS server address had been left blank, but he said it had always been blank before and it still worked back then.
So at that point I had no idea what was going on.
Maybe it wasn’t just his machine—maybe nobody else could reach that private network either. That’s also possible. I’ll have to ask tomorrow whether other towns can still access that address.
What Was That Database Error About?
Then my own site suddenly stopped opening today too. The message said there was an error establishing a database connection.
I had no idea what caused it.
Someone suggested I just restart everything and try again, so I did—and somehow it actually worked.
But then what was the problem in the first place?
Someone else said it might be related to database access and insufficient memory, but I honestly don’t know. It was the first time I’d ever run into this kind of issue, and it really made me nervous. If the data ever disappeared because of something like this, that would be a disaster.
