Cheer Chen independently released the EP PUSSY on February 8. It contains just one track, “Pussy,” a song that preserves the memory of a summer day: a day shaped by a cat, by fear, and by love.
I’d love my cat
Something really
Something bigger
Something guilty
It takes your time
It takes your trust
So easy
Misfortune rarely announces itself. No one knows when it will arrive, or what form it will take. Sometimes a single decision is enough to save a life. Sometimes, even after shouting until the voice gives out, a person still cannot protect themselves.
How close does disaster have to come before we truly feel the weight of being alive?
The small things that happen around us every day can seem ordinary, even meaningless. Yet again and again, they strike at life itself. In a crowd, bodies may be pressed close together, while hearts remain impossibly far apart. One person can be lonely and helpless, surrounded by passersby who offer only distance, indifference, and restraint.
What can we still do, then, so that fear does not take away our ability to love?
I saw a cat
Without the social life
Without a good day
Without an eclipse
Nobody helps me
Like I did to my little pussy
Give a hand to anyone
