Today, Epic Games is offering Sid Meier’s Civilization VI Platinum Edition for free, with the giveaway running until 2025/7/24 23:00.
One thing worth noting: Take-Two, the company behind the Civilization series, has an updated user agreement that explicitly allows it to scan your computer and collect personal information, including things like account passwords and chat records.
The terms also require users living in the United States, and in regions outside Australia, Switzerland, the UK, or the European Economic Area, to accept mandatory arbitration and give up the right to class actions and jury trials.
Disable the scan
Go to the game’s install folder and open these folders in order:
- Base
- Binaries
- Win64EOS
Find CivilizationVI_DX12.exe, copy the full path to that file, and paste it into Epic’s game launch options. Add a space and then %command% at the end.
For example:
F:\GAME\SidMeiersCivilizationVI\Base\Binaries\Win64EOS\CivilizationVI_DX12.exe %command%
After that, the game should launch in a clean mode.
This does not affect multiplayer mode.
