A Year, Then a Rebuild

One full year of writing without interruption. And now I have decided to tear it all down and start again.

The reason is simple: I need to return to the original meaning of “△” - the Penrose triangle. Somewhere along the way, I fell back into the loop of the Mobius strip.

A Mobius strip exists in reality. It has only one surface. It loops endlessly. No matter how large the strip of paper is before it is twisted into that form, anything moving along its surface will eventually return to the same starting point.

The Penrose triangle is different. It does not exist in the physical world. Its trick lies in visual error: it makes people believe they are seeing a kind of cycle, a closed structure that should not be possible. But once the viewing angle changes, the so-called paradox disappears. It was never truly a paradox in itself.

This past year of writing mostly happened inside a comfort zone. I was looking for a sense of familiarity, hoping it would help me recover my sensitivity to words. For a while, that seemed reasonable. But soon I realized it was a shortcut. As long as I kept circling the Mobius strip again and again, nothing in it would really confront me. It would not create friction, difficulty, or conflict.

It is like painting a still life. Whether I begin with the composition or with a single apple in the frame is not a question of right or wrong. The problem is that even if I paint that apple so vividly it almost glows with freshness, it remains only one part of the picture. The rest of the painting may still fail as I continue.

Writing can fall into the same trap. In familiar territory, I can keep looping on the same Mobius surface. The same story may produce different understandings, but those understandings still cannot escape a structure centered on myself.

So I have decided to destroy all of it and begin completely anew.
